WILDLIFE!!!

The lodge we were staying at was connected in some way to a farmer who owned a huge piece of land. We went for a walk on his land to reach an incredible basin...

we Got to do our parachute and other games at a big multi school social-sports festival! it was a brilliant day, the sun beamed down on us and radiated the excitment in the stadium...the atmosphere was electric, music reverberated around the field and the cheers of supporters erupted everytime a goal was scored on the football pitch or netball court!

We went to visit the land of the ancient San people, we visited there school, there local radio station, there ancient peoples art...

At the school a man appeared, he claimed he knew the cure for HIV and AIDS...i guess it is unbeknown to him that the cure cant work because the HIV virus is constantly evolving, adapting and changeing-there isnt a universal cure...yet there he was, passing water between two cups, one with a wedd in it, the water getting gradually more viscous...the cure for aids...there...in the cup of the son of a witchdoctor...

While there, we witnessed a violent thunder storm! the rain poured and the thunder rolled in in a brilliant spectacle! in the night the power went-and subsequently our fan, so i was plagued by dilusioned dreams from the heat!

Ulco was a wealthier area, we visited, the day after, a poorer area...a much poorer area, degregation hung rank in the air..dispite this, we set up our games for the festival and begun and the children (of all ages) swarmed us, i saw smiles on the faces of those under the boot...it was a very rewarding atmospere!

We stated to teach with our new found friends, we statred in a wealthier area, a settlement called Ulco, built by the gargantuous cement factory nearby...

Around 20 of the kids we taught were to become our companions for the rest of the week, where we were to be teaching children with them, they were a great bunch of kids and all picked it up so quickly. these guys were all from the Dikgathlong high school and we had brought t-shirts for them like the ones we had, so we could all be uniformed together, to show our unity...

We went to a primary school where we were likely to be the first white kids they have ever seen, we were met with incredible joy and smiles filled our eyes...and camera lenses!!! it was at this school where we first taught our primary school games to kids a bit younger than us, for they were getting the crash course in teaching these games, as when we were to leave, they were to continue our short legacy.

South Africa! I Visited the most incredible place i have ever been, i saw some incredible things good and bad...poverty and wealth.
I went as part of a group to teach Kids in the Northern Cape Province in a town called Delportshoop (about an hour from Kimberley) were we were centred at a local school called Dikgathlong High. Here we met a lot of local kids, most with dreams to study in England and get out of the slums, yet i also think most wont...its an opressive atmosphere, the "learners" all look smart, all in uniform, yet when you stand amounst them you are hard pressed to be standing near one whos clothes arent ripped...
